G FORCE

Grizzly Flats Organization to Reunite Community & Education

That’s a Wrap, Folks

Published by Katrina on July 9, 2009

Thanks to the income from our 3rd Annual Founder’s Day, G FORCE is able to contribute $500.00 to Grizzly Pines Elementary School. This sum is available to the school as soon as we receive their written request for the funding in that amount (our bylaws require a written request for funds to be dispensed). When Ms Kelley submits her written request, we will have a check available to her right away.  As of this posting, no grants request/funding request has been submitted.

Unfortunately, this donation leaves G FORCE without any operating funds after we meet expenses for the 3rd Annual Grizzly Flats Independence Day Parade. As a result, we are unable to host any further community events until we have the financial backing to do so. We hope to sell our remaining Grizzly Flats T-shirts and to pursue other fund-raising avenues such as applying for grants (we have been awarded a 501( c )3 tax exempt status from the IRS). At this point, there is no funding available for our insurance payment, bingo prizes or necessary expenses to host any community events.

Since it began in September of 2006, G FORCE has contributed a total of $4149 to Grizzly Pines Elementary School. This represents a full 54% of our total income during for that time. We raised $2009 specifically for the school over the summer of 2007 when we managed the Burger Night Bake Sale, donated $200 for the food for the Sutter’s Fort Trip, paid $450 total in Teachers’ Appreciation Week expenses over those years and donated (including this year’s $500) $1490 total in Founder’s Day (2006, 2007 & 2009 - unable to have the event in 2008) proceeds.

Other G FORCE events and contributions (Bingo, the annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner, the annual Free Christmas Parade & Party, the annual Independence Day Parade, a Free Community Easter Dinner, donations to Halloween on the Hill, Christmas For Kids, the Pioneer Volunteer Fire District, the Winter Clothing Drive & Give Away and other worthy causes), as well as our own operating expenses, all have come from the remaining amount after doing this for the school.

Founder’s Day is our primary fund-raising event for the year. Our inability to have Founder’s Day in 2008, plus our considerable efforts to make this most recent event affordable for our guests and a very significant drop in overall guest spending and donations at Founder’s Day this year as resulted in insufficient funding for G FORCE to both contribute to the school and continue hosting community events. If additional funding manifests, we will again provide fun, affordable (and free) family events for the Grizzly Flats Community as we are able to do so, but for now, G FORCE is insolvent.

Many thanks to the wonderful volunteers who turned out on June 7th to help us with Founder’s Day, as well as to those who donated items for the silent auctions, raffles, etc. We literally could not have done it without you.

Sincerely,
The G FORCE Board of Directors

Family Bingo

Published by Katrina on February 12, 2009

Thank you to all who came out to play Family Bingo with us on Saturday, the 7th.  We had a wonderful time and look forward to doing this again in March!

2008 - A Great Year!

Published by Katrina on January 6, 2009

Despite not having the funds normally generated by our main fundraiser, Founder’s Day (postponed from September to June), G FORCE managed to stay afloat (barely) and help out a lot of people last year.  Our biggest challenge is to maintain Bingo (prizes, food, etc) and still have enough money to pay for our insurance each month.  What a lot of people do not realize is that we are paying for the insurance not only for G FORCE events, but also for Burger Nights and Halloween on the Hill.  While we are honored to do that, events for our entire forthcoming YEAR are factored and broken down into monthly payments, so we are paying in advance for insurance on events that have not yet occurred!

Additionally, we were able to secure our 501(c)3 standing with the IRS as an official non-profit status.  We previously incorporated as a not for profit corporation and this final filing took us through the final steps of that process.  It doesn’t come cheaply, let me tell you!

So excluse of the intrinsic costs of providing fun events for the community and donating to worthy causes, there are inherent operating costs for a corporation that must also be met.  Without Founder’s Day plumping up our larders for the year, we have really been struggling.

Donations from the community are a wonderful way to show your support and to give back for the efforts that are extended.  All net profits generated by G FORCE are re-invested back into events and charitable doations and directly affect the Grizzly Flats community.

Here is a listing of what we did this year:

Donated to the Ethaniel Haboush (Leukemia) Fund

Donated to Christmas For Kids

Donated to Halloween on the Hill

Donated our time and energy to the support of every single Burger Night

Provided insurance coverage for the upcoming year of Burger Nights and Halloween on the Hill

Provided a free Easter dinner and Thanksgiving dinner for Grizzly Flats residents

Donated to boxes going out to servicemen overseas

Donated to the Pioneer Fire Prevention District

Donated and provided support to the Grizzly Flats Fire Safe Council

Organized and provided a Winter Clothing Drive & Give Away

Donated to Mountain Creek Middle School

Donated to Teacher Appreciation Week for Grizzly Pines Elementary School

Paid to have the portable toilet at the Grizzly Flats Fire Station cleaned

Hosted July 4th and Christmas parades and parties AND hosted a free swap meet and free Christmas bazaar for vendors, as well as contributing to other individual community outreach needs.

Your contributions are greatly appreciated!  Please go to www.grizzlyflatsca.com and scroll to the bottom to contribute by credit card or email Katrina at krasbold@earthlink.net to contribute by cash, check or money order.

Founder’s Day Postponed

Published by Katrina on September 18, 2008

As we prepared for this year’s Founder’s Day, we realized that the same few people who volunteer to make Founder’s Day a major success are the same folks who work every Burger Night, work the Fire Safe Council BBQ and work at the Grizzly Flats Clean Up.  In short, our wonderful volunteers are exhausted.

For that reason, the G FORCE Board made the decision to postpone Founder’s Day until June 6th.  More details will be coming as time gets closer.

In the meantime, you spoke and we listened!  The date previously set aside for Founder’s Day will be a MAJOR BINGO BLAST with a huge coverall prize, door prizes and lots of special, fun changes.  More details on that coming later as well!
